There’s never been a more exciting time for students undertaking studies in the Geospatial sciences to link up with EnergyAustralia through a GITA bursary.
Over the next four years to 2010, we will be investing $3 billion on our electricity network to meet growth in demand and maintain reliability.
With many varied opportunities to contribute to our growth, EnergyAustralia is the place to fast-track your Geospatial career.
EnergyAustralia's sponsorship of the GITA Geospatial Technology Bursary program is designed to arm you with the knowledge and experience you need to best determine a career path matching your particular skills and interests.
EnergyAustralia uses the Smallworld Geographic Information System (GIS), which is powerful mapping software used to visualise, manipulate, analyse, display and record data associated with our electrical network. The GIS links our assets to geographic locations so that we can use it for analysis, maintenance, and outage management of our network. Our reliance on other Geospatial Technologies including Global Positioning System (GPS) and Remote Sensing (RS) is rapidly increasing as we work to improve the quality and accessibility of data stored in the GIS.
Being awarded a GITA bursary will provide financial support while you study and the opportunity for (paid) work at EnergyAustralia during your Christmas holidays. When your course is complete you will graduate with a great qualification and valuable work experience that will give you a head start when applying for a job at EnergyAustralia, or elsewhere in the Geospatial Industry.
Your Professional and Personal Development
EnergyAustralia’s investment in your development will commence with a short period of induction.
As part of your training, you will also receive a comprehensive introduction to Smallworld GIS, giving you valuable skills and experience using an electrical industry standard GIS. There will also be opportunities for training and experience using GPS for those with a leaning towards this technology.
During your work experience, Team Leaders and staff will assist you in developing your technical skills, establishing effective work practices and in exploring options for your career with EnergyAustralia or elsewhere in the Geospatial Industry.
