Contractor authorisation

Service providers who have gained contestable work accreditation from the NSW Office of Fair Trading must obtain Authorisation in writing from EnergyAustralia if the contestable work involves working on or near EnergyAustralia's distribution network assets.

Authorisation categories

Accredited Service Providers can apply for authorisation for their employees who hold the required qualifications. For level 2 accreditation service work, there are 4 major categories of authorisation:

1 - disconnection and reconnection of a customer's installation at the consumer's terminals
2 - installation and connection of an underground service line
3 - installation and connection of an overhead service line
4 - metering and energising an installation with a total electrical load less than 100 amps

For more details please refer to ES4- Service Provider Authorisation. Downloaded ES4 from our Electricity Supply Standards database.

Accredited service providers can seek authorisation by completing the application for authorisation form and submitting it to their local
office.
