The EA-IPR Retail Partnership was formed in July 2005 to sell gas and electricity to retail customers in South Australia and Victoria. The Partnership is a 50:50 joint venture between EnergyAustralia Pty Limited and IPower Pty Limited.
Energy Australia Pty Limited is wholly owned by EnergyAustralia, whilst IPower Pty Limited is wholly owned by International Power (Retail) Pty Limited, a member of the International Power group.
EnergyAustralia is one of the country’s largest retailers, with retail businesses in New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Queensland.
International Power is a major generation company with equity interests in 37 power plants in 17 countries. While it is a UK based publicly listed company, it has a major presence in Australia and employs more than 800 people here.
The EA-IPR Retail Partnership uses the EnergyAustralia name under licence from EnergyAustralia, and now services EnergyAustralia's former Victorian and South Australian customers, as well as thousands of new customers of its own, having a total of more than 250,000 electricity and gas customer accounts."
