Lose 8kg a day!

Changing your hot water system can be one of the best ways to reduce your greenhouse gas emissions.

Converting an electric storage system to a gas, solar or heat pump system can save a family of four from producing 8kg of greenhouse gas every single day.*

Over 12 years that’s 36 tonnes of greenhouse gas that won’t be going into the atmosphere!

Use our hot water calculator to compare your current hot water system with a new solar, heat pump or gas system.

You may also be eligible for an extra $1000 Federal Government rebabate. Click to download the Federal solar hot water fact sheet.

A Solar hot water system uses energy from the sun, while a Heat Pump^ extracts heat from the surrounding air. In both cases the amount of electricity you need is greatly reduced. And the less energy you use, the less that needs to be generated, so fewer greenhouse gases are created.

There are two different gas systems to choose from. Instantaneous gas systems are compact and never run out of hot water, while gas storage systems heat up much faster than their electric counterparts. And the energy required for a natural gas hot water system generates only about a third as much greenhouse gas as an electric storage system.

^Noise regulations apply to the operation times of noisy heat pumps in NSW residential areas. This regulation restricts the use of noisy heat pumps between 10pm to 8am on weekends and public holidays, and between 10pm and 7am on working weekdays.
